A Council Dedicated to Meaningful Scholarly Recognition

The Vedic International Council of Astrological Scholars (VICAS) was established with a focused purpose: to honour individuals whose dedication, scholarship and contributions have enriched the fields of Astrology and allied Vedic sciences.

VICAS is conceived as an autonomous scholarly recognition initiative functioning under the umbrella of the Vedic Science Research Organization (VSRO).

Unlike conventional training institutions, VICAS is primarily concerned with identifying, evaluating, documenting and recognising achievements.

Our purpose is not to measure a scholar's value merely by academic qualifications, institutional affiliations, popularity or public visibility.

Instead, we seek to understand the substance of their contributions.

What knowledge have they developed?

What research have they undertaken?

What have they taught or preserved?

How has their work benefited students, practitioners or society?

These questions form the foundation of the VICAS recognition philosophy.

Why We Established This Council

Recognition has always played an important role in intellectual and cultural development.

An honour can acknowledge years of dedication, encourage future scholarship and inspire others to contribute.

However, the value of recognition depends upon the credibility of the institution granting it.

When awards become primarily commercial transactions, their ability to distinguish genuine achievement is weakened.

VICAS was established with the conviction that a more responsible approach is necessary.

We envision a recognition system in which nominations are examined, achievements are documented and honours are awarded for demonstrable contributions.

We do not seek to increase the number of award recipients. We seek to preserve the significance of every honour conferred.

Established Under the Aegis of VSRO

VICAS draws its institutional foundation from the Vedic Science Research Organization (VSRO), Hyderabad.

VSRO is dedicated to structured education, teaching, research, publications and the practical study of Vedic sciences.

Its philosophy emphasises learning through observation, analysis, practical application and scholarly engagement.

VICAS extends these academic values into the field of recognition.

While VSRO primarily focuses on developing knowledge and nurturing scholars, VICAS focuses on recognising those who have contributed to the advancement, preservation and responsible dissemination of that knowledge.

The two institutions therefore serve complementary purposes.

VSRO — Nurturing Knowledge and Scholarship.

VICAS — Recognising Scholarly Contribution and Excellence.

Recognition Must Carry Responsibility.

An honour should inspire confidence in the recipient and the community.

It must represent more than a title or ceremonial presentation.

At VICAS, we believe recognition should reflect:

Knowledge that has been developed.

Wisdom that has been shared.

Research that has been undertaken.

Traditions that have been preserved.

Lives that have been positively influenced.

This understanding guides our approach to recognising deserving scholars internationally.
